“Emily is the glue of our team. She’s like having another coach out there on the floor. All of her teammates respect her, so they listen to what she has to say. She sees the game extremely well, and has no problem figuring out what needs to happen on the floor. Emily is a team player; she cares more about the teams’ success than her own individual success.” – Coach Kristy Shelton
My most memorable moment on the court was during my freshman season. That year, the varsity team made it all the way to the Final Four and played four tough sets against Westminster. The match took place on Halloween, and we were blessed to have a GAC student section of around 100 fans. On game point for Westminster of the second set, we won the point and it was my turn to serve. I vividly remember stepping behind the end line as the crowd began to chant “She’s a freshman! She’s a freshman!” It was then that I realized how lucky I was to be a part of a community that would support me and encourage me through all of my endeavors.
“Every player on this team has a great heart, a great attitude, and a real will to win. This team knows how to work hard and have fun at the same time. It’s a dream team!” – Emily Becker
