“”Alex leads the team by his work ethic, competitive nature and how he encourages his teammates. As a player, he knows how to keep the pressure on his opponent. He puts points together in a very intelligent way. He never beats himself. His teammates look to him for leadership both on and off the court.” – Coach Ken Townsend
My most memorable moment was during my sophomore season. The team battled through the playoffs and made it to the State Championship. Our opponent was Pace Academy to whom we had lost during the regular season. The match score was two to one, coming down to our one doubles line. Already having won my match, I nervously cheered from the sidelines hoping this would be our year. Lane Langston and Kris Ippolito were in the third set. The score was 40-15 with Lane Langston serving for the match. Lane hit a big serve down the middle, which was followed by huge smash by Kris for the win. We stormed the court and the rest was a blur!
Although tennis is an “individual sport”, we really turn it into a team sport. We always encourage each other regardless of the score. We fight till the end. We are Spartan Tennis. – Alex Kahn
