Girls Track Team Wins State

The girls track team won the State Championship this past weekend at Albany with a real team effort. All 10 girls who went to the state meet scored points to help the team. Special mention to Stephanie Reynolds, Jada Jones and Nia Brown for scoring in 4 events each and to Stephanie for being the only individual to win a state championship. The team was led by 3 seniors—Stephanie Reynolds, Kennedy Street and Ryan Cameron. This is the 4th state title for the girls who also won in 2005, 2009 and 2012. Below are the results of the meet:

Stephanie Reynolds—State Champion in the 100 hurdles, 3rd place in the high jump
Stephanie Reynolds, Kennedy Street, Jada Jones and Nia Brown—State Champions in the 4 x 100 relay
Stepanie Reynolds, Kennedy Street, Jada Jones and Nia Brown—2nd place in the 4 x 100 relay
Nia Brown—2nd place in the 100 meters, 3rd place in the 200 meters
Danielle Shipp—2nd place in the High jump
Jada Jones—2nd place in the 100 hurdles and 3rd place in the 100 meters
Abby Kettle—5th in the 1600 meters and 6th in the 800 meters
Joelle Gregory—7th place in the long jump
Maria Harris—5th place in the shot put
Savannah Hale, Ryan Cameron, Joelle Gregory and Danielle Shipp—8th place in the 4 x 100 relay
